In an incredibly diverse world, it’s important to remember that everything we produce should have accessibility at its center. What good is an infographic that not everyone can read or understand?
Here are three tips to keep in mind when creating infographics!
Pay attention to your font. Not all fonts are as easy to read as others. Some are cleaner and more predictable to the eye while others can be distracting. Font choice is not where you should be adding style to your infographic. Go with something easy to read.
Watch your colors! Not all colors are created equal and some color pairings, like a yellow font on a blue backdrop, could be hard to read for a lot of people or too distracting!
Alt text is the best text. For any images your infographic may include, make sure to include alt text describing the image so that understanding the image is accessible for people of all different abilities!
Remember, our data is only as good as the number of people who can understand it!
