In the last few years, non-profits have realized the importance of hiring marketing and communication teams to grow their audience, presence, and brand. Because much of non-profit funding comes from donors, nonprofits need to have powerful brands that can be recognized, followed, and trusted.
Here are three ways to do this:
1.Have a Clear PURPOSE: What does your organization do and why? Although this seems like a question your programming team would focus on, this is also something your marketing team will need to understand deeply. Have a clear purpose in why you serve the community, why you do the work, and what makes you uniquely qualified for this specific set of services. People invest in purposes that feel authentic to them.
2.Know your Different AUDIENCES: Keep in mind the different facets of your audience. Nonprofits depend on donors, volunteers, and community partnerships to serve their purpose. You will need to know all of these factions deeply when building your brand.
3.Tell your STORY: How did your organization begin? Did you see a need in your community? Was the founder personally affected by this cause? Know your story and harness it. It should be centered on all the services you provide as well as your fundraising events and volunteer calls.
